CALL FOR EXPERT

Job title: Legal Expert 

Role description summary (one sentence): The Legal Expert will provide legal advice and  assist the project team on issues pertaining to the development of an educational game  platform across Central Asian countries.

Salary: Financial offer to be submitted by the applicant(s) with a rate per day. 

ERIM background 

ERIM (Equal Rights and Independent Media) is an international NGO founded in 2004 and  based in Lyon, France.  

We promote human rights and fundamental freedoms and empower citizens, so they are  better able to access accurate and objective information and critically engage with the media  and information they consume. We do this through support and strengthen civil society and  independent media organizations, so they are more sustainable and better able to advocate  for the respect of democratic principles, fundamental freedoms, and human rights. 

With its partners Medianet (Kazakhstan), MediaSabak Foundation (Kyrgyzstan), MJDC  (Uzbekistan) and Gurdofarid (Tajikistan), ERIM is implementing the QLEVER+ project which  focus on education games for marginalized youth in Central Asian countries through the  QLEVER online platform and Android App. The platform has been lunched in 2019 and is runed  in 5 languages (Russian, Kazakh, Tadjik, Kirgiz, Uzbek with some games translated into  Karakalpak). 

Role Description: 

ERIM is looking for one expert to: 

• Review the privacy policy of the platform and provide recommendations. • Provide legal expertise on topics such as: user agreement, age of participants, online  shop regulation, restriction to advertisement on the platform, etc. 

• Assist the relocation of server to each country and the storage of personnel data. • Review game components and content wording on an ad-hoc basis.

Essential specifications and experience: 

• Fluency in Russian. 

• Knowledge of Kazakh, Kirgiz, Tajik and Uzbek legal frameworks. 

The following criteria will be considered an advantage: 

• Previous experience working with CSOs. 

• Available from January 2024. 

• Based in Central Asia. 

• Fluency in English. 

Contract conditions: 

Consultancy contract – remote-based.
