About us

The Media Sabak Foundation is a non-profit organization that implements projects to support media and information literacy and promotes the development of civil society through the prism of education.

Since 2023, according to a bilateral Memorandum, the Media Sabak Foundation continues the project activities of the Media Support Center Foundation, enriching with valuable experience, practical knowledge and important projects in the field of media and information literacy.

Many significant initiatives took place in this area:

Together with the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Kyrgyz Academy of Education, projects were implemented to develop media literacy in the country's school education system. Resource books on MIL for teachers, teaching aids on media literacy and hate speech for parents, children, journalists, media professionals and other media representatives, useful books, literature, manuals, checklists and reports in different languages were developed and published. All of these resources are designed to promote media literacy and are therefore free and accessible.

We also created a multilingual educational portal www.mediasabak.org, which includes animated video tutorials, practical exercises, tests and literature on MIL in Russian, Kyrgyz, Tajik and Kazakh. It is a valuable educational resource for teachers and students who need information and knowledge about critical thinking. Many teachers apply this knowledge in their lessons, share our videos and tests.

In addition, the qlever.asia educational platform was developed jointly with the ERIM Public Foundation (France), Media.net (Kazakhstan), the Center for Contemporary Journalism (Uzbekistan) and the Gurdofarid Public Foundation (Tajikistan). The platform also has a mobile version and is available in Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. The advantage of the platform is that this site teaches people media literacy through exciting games and interesting articles.

In addition, there were many trainings, Media Labs, summer camps for school students, madrasas and the Islamic University, workshops and gender education for journalists, media organizations and media professionals, competitions for the best media corners and video lessons on MIL, as well as Central Asian conferences. Every year, summer camp participants have the opportunity not only to learn about media literacy, critical thinking and civic participation, but also learn how to shoot content, be ideological and creative. It is important for us that school students, parents, teachers, journalists, media specialists, and young people are media literate.

Our goal is to promote the acquisition of knowledge, skills, attitudes, competencies and practices that enable effective access, analysis, critical evaluation, interpretation, use, creation and dissemination of information and media products using all necessary means and tools in a creative, legal and ethical manner. .

Media Sabak is a laboratory of multimedia lessons and a platform for independent learning and practical self-development. We strive to ensure that everyone is aware of the importance of a critical approach to information on the Internet.

We are ready to share our knowledge and strive to maintain a free, democratic and developed society. We value time and smart approaches, and strive to stay focused on what really matters.

We invite you to join the Media Sabak team!
